Who are we?

Employing 350 people in Nailsea, we look after the customer journey on behalf of our parent companies Bristol Water and Wessex Water. This includes everything from meter reading, billing and customer services. We are well known for our quality, award-winning customer service and have recently been ranked 20th in the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies.

The role:

We are looking for a new meter reader to join our hard working and friendly team. Many of our applicants have no meter reading experience so don't let that stop you applying as full training will be provided by our expert team. Our meter reading team at Pelican Business Services obtains and verifies water meter readings for Bristol Water and Wessex Water. Joining this team, you will take meter readings, working Monday to Friday principally in and around the Dorchester area, so the successful candidate will need to be local. The ideal candidate would be based in DT1 or DT2.

Need to make the school run? No problem, start early and finish early! Need to attend a sports day, nativity play or just complete the weekly shop? Just take an afternoon break and finish your hours later!

We are looking for a full-time employee to work 37 hours per week. However, you are free to be flexible making up your hours, as long as there is no detrimental effect on our customers.

The position will involve working independently for the majority of the time which is perfect if you have a busy home life and love the opportunity to spend more time in the peace and quiet. Your safety is our number one concern and you will be looked after by our innovative Lone Worker System at all times.

About you:

If you like counting your steps, this role provides the chance to reach your 10K a day goal (and then some!) and is the perfect opportunity to exercise daily. It's like a free gym!

We are looking for someone who has the ability to work using their own initiative and has a full, clean driving license. If you love working outdoors and don't mind a bit of rain, this role is perfect for you! The role will also offer the opportunity of daily contact with customers so great communication and customer awareness skills are essential, along with the ability to work in a target driven environment.
